In 1949, The John Deere Company introduced the Model R Farm Tractor more than 110 years after John Deere’s humble beginnings making steel plows at his blacksmith shop in Grand Detour, Illinois. The Model R tractor was Deere’s first tractor equipped with a diesel engine, live power take off, and an optional steel cab.

That same year, Jarvis began production of high speed steel taps servicing metal working companies such as John Deere. Manufacturing the equipment used by the farming industry today has come a long way since the days of the Model R tractor as the requirements for fuel efficiency and durability are more demanding than ever.

The need for innovative tap designs have changed equally as much and Jarvis has been there all the way.

Today, Jarvis manufactures high performance application specific taps designed to fully utilize the capabilities of today’s CNC machine tools maximizing productivity and providing excellent thread finish at the lowest cost-per-hole.
