CUT TAPS
CUT TAP BASICS
Cut Taps (or cutting taps) are identifiable by the grooves (flutes) cut into the longitudinal axis. The flutes shave away pieces of metal (or other work materials) from inside the pre-drilled hole. Cut Taps remove metal in order to form threads. Cut Taps offer versatility with the ability to alter their tool geometry. Cut Taps are often used over Form Taps in cast iron, plastic, through-hole and large diameter applications.
