Memo From Production

Jarvis cutting tools Memo

Jarvis Cutting Tools | Memo To Customers | Feb 2023

*If your account has a known agreement where our standard lead times do not apply; then this memo also does not apply to that agreement.

Due to a multitude of complicating factors, we are currently running 4+/- weeks behind lead time.

Please be advised that we have limited expedite capacity and are not able to improve the delivery time on most orders right now.

We strongly encourage our customers to build additional buffers into your order cadence through (at least) July 1st of 2023.

We know that many of our customers have long relied on our timely deliveries and as a result they do not hold any emergency stock and routinely request expedited deliveries when their tool inventory is low. Historically, we have been able to save many customers from shutdown through expediting, but we can no longer accommodate the overwhelming amount of requests we are receiving.

Please be advised of following:

· Our current volume of orders in production is extremely high and we are working as hard as possible to get your orders completed and shipped.

· At this time, we cannot expedite production on most orders.

· We are running on average +4 weeks behind.

· Certain specialty coatings are running an additional +2 weeks behind = +6 weeks. This is a vendor delay and we are unable to expedite coating.

While we know delays present problems for you, we ask that you have patience while we work through the surge in orders while still being affected by supply chain and labor shortages.

Looking Ahead

We are working diligently to recalibrate stocking programs and requesting new blankets and PO’s where necessary. We ask that you also review your programs and adjust accordingly.

When writing and planning future orders we are advising that you take the following steps:

  1. Maintain extra inventory at your location. Set your order points to keep at minimum 6-weeks of emergency stock on hand at your location.
  2. Think about placing 12-month blankets. Blanket orders are an easy way to create some buffer.
  3. Reduce the amount of emergency expedites. Having a stocking plan that keeps you operating in the event of an unexpected delay is essential. Adjustments at your location that reduce shutdowns and expedite requests will improve our on-time shipments for all customers.
  4. Bundle small orders and/or holding more on hand to reduce frequent/repetitive small orders. We are not raising our minimum order at this time. However, bundling small orders when possible, and/or, increasing order quantities and decreasing frequency helps us be more efficient and on-time. As many do we run a lean staff and each purchase order requires a number of steps to process, regardless of size.

Thank you for being a valued customer of Jarvis. We appreciate your patience and understanding in dealing with this delay.
